Registration and General Information
The Hershey Track & Field Program introduces children between the ages of 9 and 14 to physical fitness through basic track and field events, encouraging them to be the best they possibly can be. Started in 1975 as a playground track and field meet, the Hershey Youth Program has become the largest youth sports program of its kind in North America. More than 400,000 children participate in the program yearly, representing more than 3,000 communities across the United States and Canada.
The program is conducted on both a recreational and education level and teaches children basic running, jumping and throwing skills in an event which stresses FUN rather than competition.
What address should I use?
You should use the Kansas address where your child legally resides.
Can I have more than one child per account?
- Each family needs their own account.
- One address per account.

What if I have children with different legal residences?
A separate account for each legal residence will need to be created. As long as both (or more) children reside in the state of Kansas, all children would be eligible to participate in a local meet.
Can I participate in more than one local meet?
Each child may only participate in one local meet per year.
I live out of state. Can I participate in a local meet?
A child may participate in a local meet in Kansas as long as they obtain permission from the Local Meet Coordinator. If the child qualifies for the Kansas State Meet, contact must be made with the State Director where the child legally resides. That State Director will determine whether the child can participate in their State Meet.
Open Meet vs. Closed Meet
An Open Meet is available to all participants. All age restrictions and Hershey rules still apply.
A Closed Meet is available to participants by invitation only. The invitation may be for participants living within a specific geographic area, such as residing within a city limit or within a Parks and Recreation Department coverage area.
Can a relay team be any four participants?
Any four participants from the same gender and age group may compete as a relay team. All four participants must be signed up for the relay as one of their running events which will count toward their total of three events.
Do I need my birth certificate to participate?
Participants who qualify for the State Meet must verify their birth certificate to their Local Meet Coordinator or hosting agency prior to competing at the State Track Meet.
